Mt. Lebanon dominates Peters Township, moving to 3-0

McMURRAY, Pennsylvania – Mt. Lebanon remained undefeated and advanced to 3-0 with an impressive 31-0 blowout win against Peters Township, which also came into the game with two wins. The name of the game was Field Position and Big Plays, and Mt. Lebanon was able to use both early and often.

In the first quarter, Mt. Lebanon was able to get into position with a big punt return, as Elijah Heidenreich brought the Blue Devils close to the red zone. While they were being stuffed on the fourth down at the one yard line, Peters Township failed to leave their own end zone. A punt and a quick reception by Heidenreich had Mt. Lebo once again in front of the door.

They hit it to begin scoring with a shuffle pass to Jack Smith, where he rumbled and stumbled his way into the end zone. Peters Township failed to recover, and Mt. Lebanon found Brendan Anderson on a bomb setting up a short field goal to give the Blue Devils a 10-0 lead in the half.

Mt. Lebanon began their first possession of the second half around midfield when the Blue Devils forced a fumble on the first drive of half. Quarterback Joseph Daniels then began raining deep balls that prevented play.

Daniels joined Michael Beiersdorf to go 17-0. Alex Tecza made the first pass on the following drive and another big pass led to a quarterback sneaker that put Mt. Lebo in the lead 24-0. Finally, Daniels set the exclamation point of the game with a long bombshell on Elijah Heidenreich, who made it 31-0 and effectively ended any chance of a comeback.

Mt. Lebanon will see a strong test next week when Canon-McMillan hosts, while Peters Township will try to recover on the road as they head to Penn Trafford.
